Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Volunteer Track?

Over the past 20 years, Victory Gap Year has seen over 800 students from around the world complete their gap year with us. With the tremendous success we have had in helping young people discover a life of purpose, VGY is excited to announce that from 2021, we will be launching the VGY Volunteer Track.

Over the period of 6 weeks you will experience the South African adventure of a life time as you volunteer in and make a valuable contribution to various underprivileged communities.

Not only will you volunteer with local NGO’s but you will also be able to make a valuable contribution to various schools in the heart of the local informal settlement as well as visiting a number of South African National Parks such as the Storms River mouth, Addo Elephant National park, Robberg Nature reserve, and more.

Who is this for?
You want your life to have meaning and you have a deep desire to leave a lasting impact in the lives of the people you encounter. But at the same time, you’re searching for the answer to that burning question, “Who am I, and What was I made for?”

You’ve come to realise that your time on this earth is too precious and you can’t afford to continue pursuing something that you’re not passionate about

If you are a high school graduate between the ages of 17-24 and want to experience a Summer Holiday that is not only adventurous and fun but is also deeply meaningful and will leave a lasting impact, then this is for you.

Will I only be volunteering?

Over and above serving the underprivileged, volunteers experience authentic community by being part of Victory Church, a local church making a significant impact in our town, the Kouga area, and around the world.

Learn valuable leadership skills by attending leadership classes aimed at helping you discover your life of influence.

Not only are you able to serve the less privileged, but you also have a massive opportunity to be completely immersed in the diverse and colourful South African culture.

Where do I live?
All Volunteer Track students reside in our student houses situated in prime spots around Jeffreys Bay. The houses are gender-based, providing very good opportunities to build lasting friendships, as well as learn and implement social skills within a healthy environment. The students, under the supervision of specific leaders, run each house themselves; they will learn the basics of running a household, as well as establishing responsibility and stewardship.
